Under the Bashō 2014Modern Haiku

southbound geese —
what's left of a kite
flaps with the wind

winter hearth—
a sparrow's home
crackles

rook after rook
an oak loses its shadow
— winter sunrise

dark clouds
rising from the salt marsh
echoes of gunshot

a depression
on her side of the bed—
winter deepens
